Micron is continually searching for waste reduction opportunities. We recycle
2.3 million pounds of metal, plastics, paper, cardboard, and other scrap components
each year. Micron has also instituted a program where employees can obtain items
for personal use that may have been sent to the landfill in the past. Items that
can no longer be used by Micron, but may have remaining useful life, may be donated
to community programs.
Micron continues to implement and improve several chemical recycling projects
with the intent of reusing in the manufacturing process as many chemicals as possible.
Those projects have been successful for several specific processes where Micron
currently recycles 50 percent of the chemicals used.
